Local running group helps D.C.'s homeless
August 16, 2010 - 08:33 am
A local running group is helping Washington's homeless community rebuild their lives.
Back on My Feet is a nonprofit founded in Philadelphia in 2007, but recently launched its Washington D.C. chapter in March 2010. The nonprofit organizes runs three times a week for its participants and offers connections to job training, employment and housing assistance to help the homeless build confidence, strength and self-esteem. However, some of the benefits are not free.
Members earn the opportunity to move forward in the six to nine-month program by maintaining a 90 percent attendance rate.
