Maryland State Police surround Walkersville home after man threatens troopers
A Walkersville-area man is in a standoff with Maryland State Police after he threatened to harm troopers and barricaded himself inside his home Tuesday night, police said.
A woman called 911 about 5 p.m. Tuesday to report her husband was threatening to harm himself and others.
When troopers arrived at the home in the unit block of Creek Walk Drive, in Walkersville, a man confronted them, and refused to come out of the home, police said. The man, who has only been identified as a 52-year-old, threatened to harm the troopers, allegedly with firearms and incendiary devices, police said.
The man's wife and her adult daughter were able to get out of the home, police said. Only the 52-year-old man is believed to be inside.
Troopers evacuated neighbors and established a perimeter. Negotiators are working to diffuse the situation.
Maryland State Police report no shots have been fired by the man or by police.
