A Montgomery County circuit court judge sentenced 21-year-old
David Winters Friday. Winters was convicted of murder in the first
degree in January 2009.

Prosecutors say Winters was on holiday leave from the Marine
Corps when he fatally stabbed his father multiple times while
taking a walk with his dad near his parents' home in Rockville, Md.

Winters said a group of people attacked his father, but police
and prosecutors said Winters had purchased the hunting knife used
in the murder and inquired about his father's self-defense ability.
