Man in NE barricade situation dies

UPDATE 8:50 a.m.: Metropolitan Police say a 50-year-old man has died Wednesday morning from burn injuries sustained during a barricade situation in Northeast Tuesday night.
UPDATE 6:20 a.m.: D.C. Fire and EMS reports the barricade situation ended after midnight early Wednesday morning. A 50-year-old man suffered serious burn injuries.
UPDATE 4:34 a.m.: D.C. police say a barricade situation in Northeast Washington has ended peacefully.
Authorities say the man with a weapon who barricaded himself inside a building on 56th St Tuesday was transported to a local hospital. There were no other injuries.

DC Fire officials say the man with a weapon who has barricaded himself inside a building on 56th St NE is alone. Earlier, police said it was unclear if anyone was inside with the man.
Metropolitan Police say the road is closed at 56th St and Blaine St NE.
D.C. Fire officials say smoke was seen coming from the building around 9 p.m. The smoke has dissipated and there is no fire.
Fire offcials say all nearby residents are safe.
