Rutgers student jumps from bridge after webcam 'outing'
A Rutgers student jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge after his roommate streamed live video on the Internet of him in his dorm room with another man.
Today, authorities confirmed a body found in the Hudson River, is that of 18-year-old Tyler Clementi.
Clementi had written on his Facebook page eight days ago, that he was going to jump off a bridge -- after learning he'd been seen online in a gay sexual encounter.
Clementi's roommate, Dhraun Ravi, and Molly Wei, allegedly used a webcam in their dorm to transmit live images of Clementi in private with another man.
Gay rights groups say Clementi was the victim of cyber bullying and harrassment because of his sexual orientation. They say he's a tragic example of a growing problem and cited examples of others, as young as 11, who have committed suicide over being outed or harrassed.
Ravi remained free on $25,000 bail Thursday on invasion of privacy charges.
Wei, 18, a Rutgers student, was also arrested in the case. Ravi and Wei face a possible sentence of five years.
