10:30  Markham Evans counts five open tables and one open sofa in front of Social on 14th St. in Columbia Heights. Well-spotted.

10:27  More concerned reports from FreeFest: a "mooostached" individual usurped Ryan Kearney's dancing space at the LCD show, preventing Kearney from completing his "thirtysomething half-hearted dancing." Also, glowsticks have been thrown and Tennessee Williams has been quoted.

10:12  Arlington Patio Update: still open tables on the patios at Liberty Tavern and Cafe Asia. A host at Liberty Tavern tells me that the crowd is "decent" but lighter than a typical Saturday night. And no line for the bathroom.

10:06  More bad Klingon news from Maura Judkis: there are neither Klingons nor appetizers at Klingon after party.

10:04  UNCROWDED BAR UPDATE

Reports coming in of two uncrowded bars. Ceiba on 14th is "has lots of room by the bar" says the hostess, and they're serving half-priced food at the bar until close. Paolo's in Georgetown is "still pretty laid back" right now, says Rebecca Cooper. Yah for finding chairs at bars.

9:40 Dupont Update: Three cops handling a traffic stop in front of the Science Club, reports @dmbosstone. Elahe Izadi says there's absolutely no wait at Giovanni's. Why is Dupont only uncrowded when I am not there? Sigh.

* TBD staff devastated by lack of Miller Lite

* MIA goes on stage late and is not wowing the crowd. Maybe because she opened by saying to them: "Fuck you."

9:21  Tough waits out in Bethesda for a table: 1-1.5 hours at American Tap Room and more than an hour at Mussel Bar. Go to Logan!

9:17  Problems on the Orange line: delays, track maintanence, misleading wait times. Take caution. Or cabs.

8:22  For Matchbox 20 and UFC lovers: Ugly Mug on Capitol Hill is serving $7 nachos alongside $4 Yuenglings and $5 SoCo and lime shots. Bear in mind that the UFC fight will be broadcast shortly, and a Matchbox 20 song is on the radio. Thanks for the tip, Sarah Larimer.

In somewhat disappointing news, Maura Judkis reports that no one is dressed as a Klingon at Klingon Shakespeare. Plenty of "nerdy dudes" on hand, but nary a Klingon. There is a Klingon dictionary on hand, though.

7:26  More updates from Capitol Hill dining scene: We, The Pizza patrons are experiencing hot temperatures on the bottom floor. Troubling. But Sarah Larimer reports that she got in, got her pizza, enjoyed some chit chat, and got out in 40 minutes. Apple Cider is the soda on special, through Larimer remains confused as to whether it is "actual apple cider or some fake soda version of it."

7:12  BREAKING NEWS: Perpetually packed Matchbox in Capitol Hill is "not as busy as we usually are," says a hostess. Expect at most a 20-25 minute wait for a party of four, she says. If you're still looking for a dinner spot, get in there while you can.

6:53  BATHROOM UPDATE: Andrew Beaujon reports from FreeFest that the "giant chicken" mens room still has plenty of soap and paper towels and no wait. Someone, however, "just took a shit" in there. Proceed with caution.

6:27  Checking in with TBD's Sarah Larimer on Capitol Hill: Union Pub is already at 90 percent capacity in anticipation of the Nebraska game, which will be shown at 8. Do not underestimate the athletic allegiance of Cornhuskers. If you can brave the crowd and the "loud" environment, buckets of Bud or Miller are $11. Also of note: floors are not sticky.

6:20 Thinking about going to Pentagon City? DON'T. Metro's a mess. If you're already out that way, pop by Crystal City Sports Bar (a few blocks from Metro station). One staffer tells me that they're offering specials to anyone who presents an "alumni card" from any college. I do not have an "alumni card." I cannot have the specials. But you lucky card-holders can!

6:13  Thievery Corp receiving mixed reviews at FreeFest.

6:10  Chinatown Coffee employee Max confirms report of "awesome crowd." Though "nothing out of the ordinary" is happening, Max says, patrons are indeed having a good time and enjoying the lobster truck outside. NOTE OF CAUTION: bathroom line is "fairly long."

5:58  REPORTED: UNCROWDED BAR. Bread and Brew in Dupont reports being "not crowded," despite their wonderful all-night deals on rail drinks ($3), drafts ($1!!), and tequila shots ($2). Staff member Terri anticipates a heavier crowd by nine, so go get a good seat now. Terri promises "lots of funny things" as the night progresses at Bread and Brew.

5:49  Concerned reports are coming from FreeFest about a "nasty throw pillow being tossed about like a beach ball." Ally Schweitzer fears for the cleanliness of it all.

 5:42 Arts editor Andrew Beaujon captures the frenzied crowd during Joan Jett's performance at FreeFest. Should these people look more excited to be seeing Joan Jett? I mean, she WAS played by Kristen Stewart.

5:08  Crime wins again in the District. TBD's Sarah Larimer just heroically attempted to stop a shoplifter at her local CVS. Well, by "tried to stop" I mean she told a clerk about it. Narc. The thief escaped with several items. She describes the experience as "very awkward." I suggest she relax at Bangkok Joe's in Georgetown and enjoy some appetizer specials, which started eight minutes ago. ($5 Thai wings!!!)

4:50  Metro riders, be nice: Sommer Mathis reports being shoved into a pole while exiting the train at L'Enfant. And this despite the low Nats attendance.

4:45 HAPPY HOUR UPDATE

Yes, there are happy hours on Saturdays! A few to consider for the remainder of the 4:00 hour:

* Sala Thai in Arlington is offering $2 drafts from 4-7.

* The Heights in Columbia Heights has wine specials starting at $3.25 from 4-7.

* Ben's Next Door on U St. has ribs for just five bucks, also from 4-7.

4:37  For Washingtonians not enjoying the pee-free floors at FreeFest this evening, the Red Hook Lobster Pound Truck is rolling into Chinatown around 6. Half-price wine, people.

4:34  Concerns that liquid by the bathroom at FreeFest might be pee are unfounded. Merely water fountain spillover.

4:28  Joan Jett is about to take the stage at FreeFest. Unfortunately, reports Sarah Godfrey, a youngster in the crowd has just asked, "Who is Joan Jett?" Godfrey helpfully points out that Kristen Stewart played her in a movie recently. I might add that Britney Spears lip-synced to a song of hers in Crossroads.
