The suspect, whose identity has not been released, told investigators he wanted ketchup from the 7-Eleven's condiment bar to put on food he had brought himself, but the manager told him he couldn't use the condiment bar without making a purchase. That's when the suspect allegedly punched the manager in the face several times.

Someone called 911 and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The 7-Eleven manager was hurt seriously enough he had to be taken to the hospital, ABC 7's Gail Pennybacker reported. His condition was not immediately available.

UPDATE 1:15 p.m.: Fairfax Police say the incident at the 7-Eleven started when a worker for an unidentified moving company entered the store with his own food and proceeded to use the 7-Eleven's ketchup.

When he was told by the store's manager that he'd need to make a purchase in order to use the store's condiments, the man became infuriated and attacked the manager.

Original report: Two people were sent to the hospital Monday morning after a fight broke out at a 7-Eleven store in Alexandria, police say.

The incident happened at the store located at 4818 Beauregard St. Police say it started when a customer apparently got upset that the condiments they wanted were out of stock. That's when a fight erupted between the customer and the store manager. The manager was transported to a hospital with a busted lip. Another female employee was transported due to high blood pressure.

Police say a robbery did not take place and a gun was not involved in the incident.
