15-year-old Manassas boy fatally stabbed walking home from school

UPDATE Nov. 21, 1:00 p.m.: In what is believed likely related to the stabbing death of Miguel Hernandez Friday, the Manassas City Police are investigating a stabbing that took place at the Grant Avenue Shopping Center in the 9600 block of Grant Ave Saturday night at approximately 8:50 pm.

Witnesses reported the victim; a 19-year-old Hispanic man of Manassas was attacked and beaten by several Hispanic males all dressed in black.

While rescue units were treating the victim they also discovered a stab wound to the victim's back.

The victim was flown to Fairfax hospital where he was treated for none life threatening injuries and later released.

No arrests have been made at this time.

UPDATE 10:22 p.m.: Two teens are under arrest Saturday night, charged with the murder of 15-year-old Miguel Hernandez on Friday afternoon as he was walking home from school.

Mauricio Martinez, 18, and a 17-year-old suspect are in custody on murder and gang participation charges.

Sources told ABC 7 that Hernandez told a witness he could identify his attackers as he was being treated at the scene before dying.

Police are not commenting on a motive, but they say they expect more arrests.

Original Story: Miguel Hernandez, a 9th grader at Osbourn High School, was stabbed and killed walking home from school Friday afternoon in Manassas.

Officers say he was attacked by several male suspects -- for no known reason -- at Brent and Bartow Streets just blocks from his home.

Police say they are looking at several "persons of interest,." But so far, no arrests.
