Bumpass, Va.: What's in a name?
November 10, 2010 - 04:28 am
What’s in a name? There’s a small town in Virginia, where the name causes a few snickers. Locals have a good sense of humor about the town called “Bumpass.” It’s even the last name of one its residents.
Eugenia Bumpass is 95 years old and has lived in Louisa County all of her life. She married into the Bumpass family in the 1930s and she said she has always been proud of the name – even when it’s mispronounced.
