Christmas storm cancels hundreds of flights; D.C. area may dodge the worst
Hundreds of flights are being canceled in the Southeast and on the East Coast in anticipation of the approaching storm.
As of 11 p.m. Christmas Eve, ABC7's Steve Rudin said snow flurries are probable for the Washington area and maybe 1-2 inches of snow could fall on Sunday.
But other areas are likely to be more affected by the storm.
The possibility of rain, sleet and snow falling across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast has airlines hitting the brakes.
The airline most affected is Delta. They've already cancelled about 500 Christmas Day flights.
And several other airlines are waiving change-of-flight fees to encourage those who are traveling over the next few days to consider changing their travel plans.
Delta, Continental, United and Air Tran are all waiving penalties for travelers who have to reschedule their trips this weekend.
The airlines are encouraging passengers to look into rerouting their trips or postponing them into next week.
