Columbia Heights murder: Family, friends mourn slain Cardozo student Lucki Pannell
Family and friends are in mourning after an 18-year-old high school senior was gunned down in the front yard of her D.C. home Saturday night.
Lucki Pannell attended Cardozo High School, where someone placde a single boquet of flowers in memory of the 18-year-old.
"She was my classmate and she was fun to be with," said Yatana Araya, a classmate. "She was funny and I really can't believe she passed away. It's a tragedy."
According to police she was shot and killed Saturday night when a gunan walked up and began firing as she sat on the front porch of her own home with two other young men.
They were wounded and fled. They were later found and taken to hospitals.
Lucki Pannell's family declined to talk to the media Monday, but friends and neighbors all described a vivacious young woman who liked people and made friends easily.
There's speculation that Lucki was not an intended target.
