The Maryland State Highway Administration is asking motorists to delay their travel plans so that crews can clear the roadways of snow and sleet.
The agency said early Tuesday that more than 2,000 workers have been deployed to keep the roads open, and that crews have been working throughout the night. It says interstates and primary roads have been plowed and treated, but there are still some snow-covered areas.
Drivers are being asked to delay their driving plans, and to use caution on ramps, bridge and overpasses.
In Prince George's County, crews worked overnight to clear primary roadways. They will begin another 12-hour shift at 10 a.m.
In Annapolis, officials say the city's three parking garages will be free to residents until 5 p.m.
