NCAA a boon for Chinatown

The 2011 NCAA Tournament is proving to be big business for bars and restaurants around the Verizon Center, the Washington Business Journal reports.
Many of the Chinatown bars and restaurants are expecting a 10 percent to 20 percent jump in revenue this weekend as a result of the nearby tournament. The Verizon Center anticipates nearly 50,000 people to come through the doors this week, Sheila Francis, director of event and venue communications at Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Verizon Center, told the WBJ.
“We are expecting enthusiastic fans to be out early with their disposable income,” Paul Walker, general manager at Clyde’s, told the
Washington Business Journal.
