Frederick County officer assaulted, attacker charged
A man who attacked a Maryland State Police officer during a traffic stop late Thursday night has been charged with assaulting a trooper, the Frederick News-Post reports.
The incident occurred when officer Jeremy Tindal pulled over a car on I-70 near Maryland Route 355. When he tried to place the driver, 25-year-old Michael Mende of Walkersville, under arrest, he assaulted the officer and attempted to flee on foot.
Mende has also been charged with driving under the influence and had outstanding warrants out for his arrest.
