Leggett ally gets $160k salary for commission post
The office of Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett is spending nearly $160,000 on salary and benefits for Michael Subin, a longtime political ally and former County Council member, the Washington Examiner reports.
Subin is the executive director of the county's Criminal Justice Coordinating Commission, tasked with "coordinating communication" among Montgomery's law enforcement agencies, the Washington Examiner learned. The commission meets four times a year.
"It looks bad," one high-ranking county official who asked to remain anonymous told the Washington Examiner. "To be paying that much to one of your political buddies -- for, let's face it, not that much work -- is outrageous with our budget situation."
