Loudoun County may withdraw Dulles Metro money
March 18, 2011 - 06:09 am
Loudoun County may withdraw its share of funding for the second phase of Dulles Metrorail, citing that the project is no longer worth it, WAMU 88.5 reports.
As cost estimates rise for the second phase of the Silver Line project -- from Herndon to Dulles Airport and beyond, Loudoun County Supervisor Stevens Miller says a majority of his colleagues on the the Board think the cost can no longer be justified, according to WAMU.
"Loudoun County's contribution to that project would be on the order of $300 million," Miller told WAMU. "But as of yet we haven't committed to fund that part. If we don't, then Phase II would be in complete jeopardy."
