Woman struck by Metro train at Rhode Island Avenue station

A woman was struck by a Metro Red Line train at the Rhode Island Avenue station.
A Metro spokesman says the woman was struck by a train heading in the direction of Glenmont at about 2:24 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows that the woman was intentionally on the tracks and put herself in ther path of the train, according to Metro. She is in serious condition.
WMATA's official Twitter page says that Red Line trains are single-tracking between New York Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue.
The Rhode Island Avenue station is open and by 4:07 p.m. normal service resumed.
