Police investigate murder of Jacinta Ayala, Burger King employee
Tonight the search is on for the person who killed a young mother at a Frederick Burger King on Friday.
Officers responded to the fast food restaurant, located at 1302 E. Patrick Street, for reports of a medical emergency on Friday. Upon arrival, police found a woman who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
The woman, a manager at the restaurant, had arrived to open the store at about 5:30 a.m. and, somehow, the gunman entered along with her, according to police statements and source information. During what police believe was a robbery, the woman was murdered in the back office of the restaurant.
The Frederick Police Department has identified the victim of this morning's homicide as Jacinta Ayala, a 32-year-old female, from the 9000 block of Liberty Road in Frederick, Md.
She was discovered by a bread delivery man and another employee who arrived for work at about 6 a.m.
The store safe had been opened, leading police to believe that it was a planned robbery.
The victim is a mother to two very young children.
A few hours after the murder, a roaring state police helicopter hovered low over the crime scene. A detective took photos and scanned the roof of the Burger King looking for evidence.
The Frederick police chief pledged an all-out effort to catch the killer.
“It’s bizarre and unacceptable and tragic and obviously we're working as hard as we can to try and solve this this does not happen here,” said chief Kim Dine.
