Prince George's Community College to launch high school
March 31, 2011 - 05:47 am
LARGO, Md. (AP) - Students in Prince George's County will soon get a chance to attend high school and college at the same time.
Prince George's Community College has announced that it's opening the Academy of Health Sciences - the first middle college high school in Maryland. A middle college is a high school on a college campus that offers both diplomas and college credit.
The students will begin attending classes this summer. The school will begin with 100 ninth-graders and add a class around that size each year.
PGCC president Charlene Dukes says students will graduate with high school diplomas and that some will earn associate degrees.
All Prince George's County public school students are eligible to apply.
