USPS plans to eliminate 7,500 positions
March 10, 2011 - 02:37 pm
The U.S. Postal Service plans to eliminate approximately 7,500 supervisory, managerial and postmaster positions, Washington Business Journal reports.
This announcement will be made March 25 and will be a part of an effort to scale down postal ranks by 30,000 positions this year, said Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, Federal Times reports.
Positions will cut across 10 District offices and headquarters. In recent years, the Postal Service cut 230,00 positions through attrition, hiring freezes, early retirement and buyouts to trim down, and it plans to do that in the future, Donahoe said.
