The family of Zachary Cuddeback has released a statement mourning his murder. He was one of the two airmen killed in yesterday's shooting at an airport in Germany.

His family described Cuddeback as an Army brat who died serving his country. While he lived in many places, he had a special place in his heart for St. Louis, Mo., his family said.

Cuddeback graduated from William Monroe High School in Stanardsville, Va., in 2008.

After a year at Old Dominion University, where Zac played on the ODU Monarch's Ice Hockey Team, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 2009, his family said.

Cuddeback loved the Air Force, cars, and hockey, his family said.

"Zac always had a smile on his face for everyone, but had no closer friend than his brother, Tim."
