Mitchell, 33, was walking home from an evening at the theater, and he saw man harassing a young woman. He was trying to intervene, but it didn’t help.

The gunman and Mitchell wrestled, but the gunman overpowered Mitchell and shot him in the stomach at the intersection of Florida Avenue and North Capitol Street.

According to the police, the gunman is a black male in his mid-20s who stands 5-feet 6-inches tall.

Police recovered a surveillance video near the scene, which captured what the suspect wore. He wore a distinct jacket that has palm trees embroidered on the back and the name “Scarface” written in the script.
