D.C. police get tough on litter bugs
April 28, 2011 - 06:49 am
D.C. police will soon begin cracking down on litter bugs in the city with a pilot program fining offenders $75 and possibly even arresting those who fail to provide an accurate name and address, WAMU reports.
"There's nothing more frustrating to many residents than to see somebody just toss trash as they walk down the street sometimes just a few feet away from a trash can," Police Chief Cathy Lanier tells WAMU.
The law applies to both motorists and pedestrians and includes cigarette butts, according to WAMU.
