DDOT says bridges 'in good shape' despite report

As a major rehab project starts on the New York Avenue Bridge, questions are being raised about the condition of other bridges in District, WTOP reports.
"Relative to the rest of the country, they are in good shape," Ronaldo "Nick" Nicholson, program manager with the D.C. Department of Transportation told WTOP.
A report released last month by Transportation for America cited 30 of the District's 244 bridges as structurally deficient. That's a higher percentage of bridges in need of repair than the national average, 12.3 percent in D.C., compared with 11 percent average, according to the advocacy group.
