District cancer help line launches
The DC Cancer Consortium launched a telephone resource line for District residents who have questions about cancer or are seeking support.
DC Cancer Answers, 202-585-3210, debuted today and is linked to the American Cancer Society's regional call center in Maryland. The phone line will be staffed by cancer information specialists fluent in both English and Spanish, according to a news release.
"This is an important piece of the access-to-care puzzle that we have been trying to put together for many years in the District of Columbia," said Dr. John Lynch, board chairman of the DC Cancer Consortium.
The DC Cancer Consortium is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the reduction of cancer in the District via prevention, improved treatment and research.
