Dulles Metro: Governor McDonnell calls for underground option

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has become the latest leader to engage in the debate over the Dulles Metro station when he called on the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority to reverse its decision to build the Silver Line station underground, WTOP reports.
Ever since MWAA announced its decision earlier this month, local leaders have balked at the $330 million extra it would cost to put the station underground. The costs rail line through the airport en route to Loudoun County - which began with a $2.5 billion estimate - are now approaching $6 billion.
An underground station was favored because an above-ground option would add four minutes to any passengers' commute.
