Navy 'Spice' controversy: 13th midshipman expelled from Naval Academy
April 14, 2011 - 09:01 am
The drug controversy that has rocked the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis has led to the expulsion of another midshipman, the Baltimore Sun reports.
A male student was kicked out of the academy last week, Cmdr. Joe Carpenter said Wednesday. It brings the total number of midshipmen expelled since last fall to 13.
The students were all disciplined in connection to an investigation into the use of a synthetic marijuana substance known as "spice."
Twelve of the students expelled were male. The first female was dismissed from the school earlier this month.
