Two bodies found in Susquehanna River, detectives in Phylicia Barnes' case notified
Police found two bodies—one of a woman, the other of a man, a mile a part in the Susquehanna River, and detectives in the Phylicia Barnes case, have been notified, Charlotte Observer reports.
Barnes, who is from Monroe, NC, has been missing since Dec. 28 and had been visiting her stepsister in northwest Baltimore.
A friend who was staying in the apartment told police that Barnes left, saying she was going to get something to eat. She has not been seen or heard from since. Police conducted searches since then but found no trace of Barnes.
The bodies were found in the Susquehanna River, on opposite sides of the Conowingo Dam, which is about 50 miles northeast of Baltimore.
Gregory Shipley, a spokesman for the Maryland State Police said work crews near the dam saw a woman’s body about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and alerted Maryland state troopers.
Both bodies were decomposed and that dental records might not be able to show the identities, Anthony Gugliemi, a spokesman for the Baltimore police told WBAL-TV.
