In a private meeting with Navy SEAL commanders Monday, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) delivered over 1,200 thank you notes, the Washington Post reports.
The letters, written from people around the world, were sent to the Senator's office before being handed over to the Navy in the Hampton Roads area.
Sen. Warner also created an interactive Disqus comment platform for users to comment on the Senator's web site.
"What you have accomplished is much more than the mission itself. You have lifted the spirit of an entire nation," wrote user AQ.
