D.C. ranks as second fittest city in America
May 25, 2011 - 10:51 am
The District ranks as the second fittest city in the U.S., dropping from a three-year, first place run, reports the Washington Post.
Minneapolis-St. Paul took home the number one spot, according to data from the American College of Sports Medicine’s American Fitness Inex. Scores were based on nationwide polls, including factors such as community health practices, instances of exercise, health insurance coverage, and accessibility to public parks, among others.
The D.C. metro region ranked high on activity levels, its number of farmers markets, and its low number of smokers.
Nearby cities that made the list are Virginia Beach, no. 9, Richmond, no. 12, and Baltimore, no. 20.
