D.C. ranks second in tech jobs
Nerds are having the easiest time at employment in the District, as the region was named the second best city for work in the tech industry, reports the Sacramento Bee.
With the economy picking up, the region is enjoying a 6 percent unemployment rate, well below the national average. As a result, the area’s tech demand is growing, notably with need from the U.S. government, telecommunications, financial services, IT startups and technology, according to Modis, a leading provider of information technology staffing.
Houston ranked first. The survey took into account factors such as job openings, growing industries, and the intensity of the need for talent in the region.
Northern Virginia’s unemployment rate currently sits at 4.8 percent, with Arlington County’s at 3.9 percent.
