May 3, 2011 - 06:08 pm
Irvin B. Nathan is the District’s next attorney general, filling a major slot in Mayor Vincent Gray’s administration, Washington Post reports.
On Tuesday, D.C. Council unanimously voted Nathan to fill the role.
Nathan has been serving as interim attorney general since January.
He replaced Peter Nickles, who was mayor Adrian Fenty’s pick for the job.
Nathan could be the city’s last appointed attorney general.
Last year, D.C. voters approved a ballot initiative for an elected attorney general. The first election will be held in 2014.
