Jiffy Lube Live bans alcohol, tailgating

Summertime means roasting in outdoor concerts, chugging beers, and grilling out on the back of that old pick-up truck. Looks like times are about to get less comfortable and a whole lot more expensive, as Jiffy Lube Live has banned tailgating in its parking lot, reports InsideNoVA.

The 25,000 capacity concert amphitheater in Bristow, Va., summer home to bands such as Dave Matthews Band, Jimmy Buffet, and Rascal Flatts, has decided to ban pop-up tents, portable grills, and alcohol. Though drinking has always been banned in the parking lot, the venue is now taking a ‘no tolerance’ handle on it.

Boycott Jiffy Lube Live Tailgating Policy,’ a mass movement on Facebook was started in revolt.

“What is the point of going to a Buffett show and not being able to tailgate? I will burn my tickets and never set foot on Jiffy Lube Live again! Perhaps you will have better luck with this policy if you bring acts like Justin Beaver or what ever his name is,” writes Thomas Walton.

Venue representatives and law enforcement officials note the change as a safety measure. Four people have died in the past two years after concerts at the venue. The change will go into effect at next weekend’s WMZQFest, with lots opening an hour and a half later than usual. Police intend on monitoring parking lots for tailgating and drinking.

“HAHAHA You think traffic is bad now??? Wait till the next concert when the parking lots open only 1 hour before the gates open… Have fun with that!” writes Ashley Shepared.

MargaritaVille’s starting to sound more like sober rush hour than an island party.
