NFL association to host rookie symposium in D.C.
May 31, 2011 - 06:29 pm
The NFL Players Association will have a rookie symposium called “The Business of Football: Rookie Edition” in Washington, D.C. designed for the 2011 NFL Draft picks, Sports Illustrated reports.
The announcement of the event comes eight days after the NFL announced it was cancelling the annual pre-season workshop for incoming rookies.
The event will be held June 28-29 and will focus on financial planning, media relations and professionalism both on and off the field.
The association will cover all costs for the event, including travel and hotel accommodations.
In addition, retired players will be brought in to address the rookies.
