Stephen Strasburg throws off mound
May 24, 2011 - 08:08 am
Stephen Strasburg took a big-league step towards the Nationals Park mound yesterday, when the Nats' pitching sensation took to a Florida mound to pitch for the first time in months, MLB.com reports.
It's the first time Strasburg has thrown from a mound since Aug. 27, when he was removed from a game against the Phillies. After Monday's session, he took to Twitter:
First bullpen in the books. Felt great! Hopefully time will speed up now!
Strasburg underwent Tommy John surgery in September. Although there is a small chance he will return for this season, it's more likely that we'll see Strasburg return to the MLB in 2012.
