Washington Nationals: Cee Lo Green song leads to confusion
Cee Lo Green, the musician with that not-so-tasteful song (whose PG-rated song is only a slight upgrade) recently released an entirely new take on the song.
The new version, "Thank You," is an ode to volunteer firefighters across the United States. However, when the Washington Nationals decided to play the song in honor of military groups, some fans did not fully hear the lyrics, and assumed the Nats were playing the original, not-so-nice song. The Washington Post reports on how a nice song, taken the wrong way, can leave a red, white and blue organization red-faced.
After some negative reactions from fans, Nationals Public Relations took to Twitter for some damage control.
Cee Lo’s revised song “Thank You” honors US heroes. #Nats commitment to saluting our troops remains a top priority. #Nationals
Idea came from http://bit.ly/jAjg4C but moving forward, #Nats will adjust accordingly to pay tribute in a more meaningful way. #Nationals
While the Nationals will most likely never play the song again, it's still one with a positive message that deserves a listen.
