District water taxi barely used
June 9, 2011 - 12:34 pm
Did you know that there's a water taxi commuter service available from the Southwest waterfront to Georgetown Harbor? No? Don't worry, you're in the same boat as quite a few D.C. residents.
The service is provided by American River Taxi, which also shuttles Nationals fans between Georgetown and the ballpark. For $8 each way, you can cruise along the Potomac on the half-hour commute.
The water taxi idea may be suffering from a lack of publicity. After all, when the air temperature approaches the century mark, taking a ride on the cooler waters is more appealing than the steamy Metro. Just make sure you're not on an unfortunately-named vessel.
