Around 10:20 p.m., a student was walking near the intersection of 36th and O Streets, NW and was robbed at gunpoint.

The student saw that an unidentified suspect was following her, according to a public safety alert. Once she reached the intersection, the suspect grabbed her purse.

The student then ran to a courtyard on the 3600 block of O Street. The suspect ran after her, robbed her at gunpoint and took her purse and iPhone. He then fled in an unknown direction. The student was not injured.

The suspect is described as a black man with medium to dark complexion in his mid-20s. He’s approximately 5-feet 9-inches tall, with shoulder-length dreadlock hair. He was wearing a large black T-shirt and possibly denim pants. The gun he used may have been a revolver.

If anyone has any information on the incident should call DPS at 202-687-443 or MPD at 911.
