Stress levels higher in city, study finds
June 23, 2011 - 08:32 am
Congrats, D.C. residents: your mental health is seriously at risk, a recent study says. Via AP:
Imaging scans show that in city dwellers or people who grew up in urban areas, certain areas of the brain react more vigorously to stress. That may help explain how city life can boost the risks of schizophrenia and other mental disorders, researchers said.
While we're sure that actually living in a city may cause stress in general, it's safe to say that D.C. suffers from its own unique brand of stress.
