Sulaimon Brown produces money orders he says were payments from Vincent Gray
Updated: June 5, 2011 - 09:25 pm
In the latest twist in the Sulaimon Brown saga, the former mayoral candidate has produced five money orders that he says were payments made to him by Mayor Vincent Gray's campaign, the Washington Post reports.
The orders, made out to "Sulaimon Brown for Mayor," total more than $600. Brown says they're part of the payments he says were made to him from Gray campaign employees and consultants, including campaign chairman Lorraine Green.
Brown is scheduled to testify before the D.C. Council on Monday in connection into the investigation into Gray's hiring practices after he was elected last year.
He says the payments were made to him as he continued to mount verbal attacks on former D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty during last year's contentious mayoral race.
