Another sweltering, humid summer in the District, and once again, no water fountains in sight, except for the obscure few on the National Mall. Local businesses are coming to the rescue with free water bottle refills, reports WAMU.

Residents and visitors no longer need to feel awkward about traipsing into the café on the corner and begging for free water. Dozens of local restaurants have joined TapIt, a national program that promotes water sustainability. More than 67 cafes and eateries have signed up, with signs on their windows offering to fill water bottles for free.

“It saves people money, it’s clean, cool fresh water which everyone needs to live and refresh themselves,” says DC Water General Manager George Hawkins. “And it’s tremendous for the environment.”

Never go thirsty again! Some businesses on the list already include Columbia Heights Coffee, Tryst, Capitol Grounds, My Organic Market stores, Yola, and every Potbelly in the city, where the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies will make you forget you're sweating your life away.
