'Top Chef Just Desserts': CityZen's executive pastry chef Matthew Petersen to compete in season 2
Local pastry chef Matthew Petersen will be joining the second season of Bravo's Top Chef Just Desserts, as one of 14 contestants. Which means you can expect TBD to follow his progress like he's President Obama on a Middle Eastern tour.
Petersen, 32, the executive pastry chef at CityZen and Sou'Wester at the Mandarin Oriental, and has worked at New York City's db Bistro Moderne and Restaurant Daniel, Palm Beach's Cafe Boulud, and at Philly's LaCroix and Morimoto. His "favorite simple fall dessert recipe" is griddled pumpkin cake with raisin compote and ginger ice cream. That's about all we know about him, so let's go ahead and paste a quote from the article we're aggregating:
"His talents lie in his ability to create desserts and pastries that are uncomplicated, yet exceptional and serve as the best complement to the preceding courses," Executive Chef Eric Ziebold told NBC Washington. "I am sure that he will be a formidable competitor, and do us all very proud."
watching "Top Chef: Just Desserts" and wondering why I've never dated a pastry chef. I am missing out, maaan
