Medical marijuana in D.C. applicants rejected; M.I.A.'s fiancé didn't make cut

Everybody (who is ill) must get stoned. (Photo: Flickr/elpablo)

Rapper M.I.A.'s very rich fiancé, Benjamin Bronfman, won't be dispensing soon-to-be-legal pot in D.C., but the owners of a Capitol Hill wine store and a neighborhood commissioner from Ward 5 might.

Bronfman, an environmentalist and musician whose dad is the CEO of Warner Music Group, totally spaced out and submitted his letter past the deadline, reports the Washington Times. The guy's been having a hard time getting into the weed business; he recently poured thousands of dollars into a medical marijuana farm in Oakland, Calif. that was shut down.

The District has narrowed down 170 letters of intent — 64 for dispensaries and 106 for cultivation centers — to 139. Ward 5 ANC commissioner Albrette "Gigi" Ransom's hopes for a dispensary are still alive, as are that of Rick and John Genderson, owners of Schneider’s on Capitol Hill. They're competing for just 15 spot.

I bet this guy can't wait for some company — "puff, puff, give" just isn't the same when you're getting stoned alone.
