Beauty pageants are the hungriest of times. Ashley Boalch, a 23-year-old University of Maryland student who won the Miss DC 2011 crown at the Arena Stage on Sunday, told NBC Washington afterward, "I thought I was going to faint at first." Faint from excitement? No, from malnourishment!
Now that she won't have to strut around in a bathing suit in front of clothed judges — this year's beauty experts were Post columnist John Kelly, Top Chef's Spike Mendelsohn, and WUSA's Angie Goff — Boalch says she will, at last, feed herself. "I'm gonna eat, because the one thing I haven't done is eat," she says in the video below. "And I'm gonna eat a cheeseburger, but then I'm gonna go the gym — but first I'm gonna eat a cheeseburger!"
We can only hope this settles, once and for all, the most irritating debate of the week.
