Operation Adams Morgan: D.C. police target late-night loiterers

In an effort to prevent this, this, this, and this, D.C. police are launching Operation Adams Morgan, a plan to deploy more police officers and Guardian Angels on 18th Street to keep all drunkards, rabble-rousers, goaders, inebriates, brawlers, troublemakers, and dipsomaniacs from loitering in the wee hours of the night.

Get your slice and get out!

"Especially around bar closing time — after two o'clock until about 4:30 in the morning. It can be pretty chaotic out here," Guardian Angel Alex Kaufer told Fox 5. "You've got tons of people out on the sidewalks. People starting all kinds of trouble — people getting into fights. Cars getting broken into."

The operation will run through Labor Day. The first phase begins this weekend with minor parking restrictions on 18th Street, which already is one of the worst areas of the city to find parking on weekend nights. Not that anyone in their right mind would want to go there on a Friday or Saturday night.
