2011 Washington Redskins will be awful, predict 'experts'

Expect to see more of this (Photo: Associated Press)

Correction:

The article initially said that one magazine thinks the Redskins will finish 6-10. In reality, none of them thinks the Redskins will finish 6-10.

The Washington Redskins have had a great preseason so far. The 2-1 'Skins beat the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers 16-7, followed by a 16-3 victory on the road against another perennial playoff team, the Indianapolis Colts. The preseason doesn't count, though, and the predictions for the regular season all say one thing: The Redskins will be terrible.

In browsing NFL previews, Dan Steinberg found that the Redskins are expected to end up in the basement of the NFC East.

Perhaps these publications are being a bit harsh. Rex Grossman and John Beck are posting excellent QB ratings in their three preseason games, and one of them really believes the team will the NFC East. The New York Times was slightly kinder than others in the media, saying,

The Redskins might actually be better than a year ago. That doesn’t mean they’ll have a better record. A decent defense that’s without playmaking flair is not enough to overcome an offense that lacks firepower through the air.

Like we said — slightly kinder. Here's what one betting handicap blog is predicting:

Futures:

Super Bowl Odds: +10000
Conference Odds: +4050
NFC East Odds: +245
2011-2012 NFL Regular Season Wins: Under 6.5

Predictions:

Place they’ll finish in NFC East: 4th
Place they’ll finish in NFC Conference: 16th
Over/Under Wins Prediction: UNDER

If all of these numbers are confusing you, we'll put this in simple terms: No one believes the Redskins have a chance in hell of making the playoffs.
