D.C. skate park to be built at RFK, for Maloof Money Cup
D.C. is almost a skater's paradise. There are rails in Dupont, brick ramps in Georgetown, ledges everywhere, and of course Freedom Plaza. We even have one cool skate shop, and skaters of all types. But when it comes to actual, government-approved skate parks, the District is sorely lacking.
Well, we're getting a new skate park this year, courtesy of the Maloof Money Cup, and it looks like a lot more fun than that sad one in Shaw. The park is being built in the parking lot of RFK stadium for the Sept. 3-4 event, but will remain there afterward.
The Maloof Money Park is said to be inspired by Freedom Plaza and the buildings of Pennsylvania Avenue. Unfortunately, nothing in the above rendering resembles the White House, but it's got Fogo de Chao's fingerprints all over it.
