Frederick man attacks employee with medieval axe inside home

This is Sparta! Now give me back my quarters. (Photo: Flickr/C.G.P. Grey)

A Frederick man allegedly hit an employee with an medieval-style axe, cutting him to the bone — all over some stolen quarters! You're forever banned now from claiming your boss "went medieval on my ass."

Andrew Francis Scalera, 44, was asleep at home while the victim, employed by Scalera's painting company, was filling out work orders there, according to court documents cited by the Frederick News-Post. Scalera woke up and accused the employee of stealing quarters from his room, and when the employee denied stealing the quarters, Scalera allegedly started choking him. Scalera then went to his bedroom and returned with a "decorative medieval-style axe," attacking the employee and leaving a two-inch gash on his forearm, the documents say.

Apparently, once subdued, Scalera tried to apologize for that whole axe-wielding thing, but he's still facing first- and second-degree assault charges. Maybe he has a legitimate defense?
