Maryland black bear hunting: Permits available
August 3, 2011 - 11:59 am

- Only you can prevent me from dumpster diving.
Summer is almost over, which means that, in just a few short months, you can kill a black bear in Maryland.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications to hunt the bears, which have been showing up in the area with regularity.
From the AP:
DNR will issue 260 permits, with a quota of 55 to 80 bears. The hunt is scheduled Oct. 24-29, but will close when the quota is reached.
DNR officials say applicants have a good chance of being selected, with about one in 15 receiving a permit.
Yeehaw!
