Rex Grossman: Redskins will win NFC East (video)
Rex Grossman, recently named the starting quarterback of your hometown Washington Redskins, believes his team will win the NFC East this season. Or perhaps he just wants his players to believe it, so that it actually might happen. Which it won't.
Speaking to Comcast SportsNet on Tuesday, Grossman did a decent Gilbert Arenas impersonation:
You know, we're just waiting in the wings, ready to take over the NFC East. Nobody's talking about us. That's right where we want to be. You look at us from top to bottom out here, there's a bunch of great players. And we don't need people saying we're the best right now, but when it's all said and done, I really feel like this team's gonna win the East.
Grossman's best season came in 2006-2007, when he led the Chicago Bears to the Super Bowl ... with a middling QB rating of 73.9. It was the only season he started every game. This season, he'll be tested early and often. Two of the Redskins' first four games are against NFC division rivals — New York and Dallas — and the division is matched up against the stacked AFC East this year.
That's our way of saying the Redskins probably won't win the NFC East. But hey, crazier predictions have come true.
